Montreal’s
premiere burlesque troupe teams up with Café Campus to bring back burlesque cabaret in the
city since the good old days
[Montreal, January 18, 2010]
Since September, Blue Light Burlesque has been wowing Montreal audiences with
the city’s first monthly burlesque cabaret since the good old days. The
tradition continues in 2010 at Café Campus (57 Prince Arthur Street East), an
intimate surrounding where the troupe offers up a tasty cocktail of classic
numbers and new favourites.
Montreal has had a longstanding history of burlesque from the early days
of Lili St Cyr and the Gayety Theatre. Blue Light Burlesque continues the tradition, reviving
the classic art form while giving it a contemporary twist. On the scene since
2004, the troupe have established themselves as leaders of the movement on
their home turf, drawing vibrantly diverse and mixed crowds to more than a
dozen full-length shows while also representing the city on an international
stage at various burlesque festivals.
Next stop is the troupe’s annual Valentine’s Day show on Wednesday,
